You will grow in accordance with the responsibility you assume.
Sometimes you gain responsibility when you ask for it. You seek out a new project at work, help a neighbour with a leaking roof, foster a rescue dog.
Other times you become more responsible simply by choosing to be.
Rather than complain about your kids, you remember how they were your decision in the first place. Instead of lamenting your partner’s differences, you realise that every day, you’re choosing to stay. When Monday morning rolls around, you remember what you’re working for.
Responsibility weighs heavy. It is not always easy or fun or empowering.
But it is how you grow.
